about Indispensable People
So many people want to start the conversation about disability ministry with strategies. Often, people will come to share a story about their experience, asking for verification on how they handled the situation. These conversations are at the forefront of our minds because they are part of the logistics of surviving every service and event. Sundays come around every seven days, and strategies are needed just as often when serving people with disabilities. However, scripture urges us to do things with excellence. But excellence in knowledge is not enough. 2 Corinthians 8:7 says, “But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.” Combining wisdom from the Lord, knowledge, kindness, and compassion is the perfect equation for any part or position in serving people with disabilities. Standing on the firm foundation of scripture helps any ministry, including disability ministry, to go from surviving to thriving.
